Jan. 22nd - SNOW 'N ICE HIKE CHANGED TO FALL CREEK FALLS STATE PARK, Spencer, TN, under 5 miles, easy to moderate. Due to the Visitors' Center and the cafe being closed at Rugby in Jan. and Feb. this year we are going to hike at Fall Creek Falls State Park and eat in the restaurant at the Inn. We plan to hike to and from the falls for which the park is named via the Woodland Trail, which includes two crossings on a swinging bridge. Those who wish to extend the hike may go all the way down and back on the Fall Creek Falls Basin Trail. If it is too icy to hike over the Woodland Trail we'll do other trails. (One of our most enjoyable winter hikes there in the past was around the lake in the snow followed by an overview of the falls completely frozen in ice cycles.) Jim Hall, the Park Manager says he'll try to assign a Ranger/Naturalist to our group to enhance the experience. We'll meet in the Nature Center at 10 a.m. Central Time. A carpool from Murfreesboro is possible if we have a volunteer. Contact Fount or Anna Bertram abertram@dtccom.net or (615) 765-5357
