Upcoming Hike: Stone Door Big Creek Rim/Laurel Loop 2/26/11

Join US! This coming Saturday, Feb.26 for a beautiful hike at Savage Gulf State Natural Area.

We will start the hike at the Stone Door ranger station and follow the paved path to The Great Stone Door where we will see fantastic views of the gorge below. Take a few minutes to take it all in and if you feel like it, take a walk down through the door and back up (optional).

From the Door, we will follow Big Creek Rim along the rim of the gorge and enjoy several  beautiful overlooks. We will have lunch at the Alum Campsite and after lunch we will complete the loop via the Laurel Trail back to the Ranger Station.

This is easy terrain with not too many hills or obstacles, but it will be classified as moderate due to length. We will hike 7 miles total.
