We had perfect weather for the 4 day, 3 night trip to Lake Watauga Lake in East Tennessee. We enjoyed a potluck dinner the first night. We hiked almost 9 miles on Tuesday taking the Overmountain Victory trail to access the Appalachian Trail to the top of Hump Mountain. Even though it was cloudy, we still had spectacular views from the balds. We had dinner that evening at the Steakhouse Restaurant in Banner Elk.
Wednesday, we kayaked about 6 miles on Lake Watauga. This lake is surrounded by mountains and there were very few boats on the lake. We camped at Cardens Bluff Campground with sites overlooking the lake. Hikers/kayakers were Jim Barritt, Chuck Deen, Patty Deen, Judy Fries, Cyn Hartlieb, Joan Hartvigsen, Nancy Juodenas, Sara Pollard, Marietta Poteet, Georganne Ross, Paolo Smith, and Michel Travers.
