We had 10 hikers on the August 29 trip to Tracy City. The plan was to hike the Foster Falls day loop and then hike to the waterfall at Denny Cove. After hiking the climber’s loop at Foster Falls we went to Denny Cove and the gate was locked. Marietta Poteet called the Visitors’ Center and was told a new park ranger forgot to unlock the gate. After hearing that we decided to hike the Grundy Forest Day Loop instead. We had a heavy rain the night before so the day loop trail was slippery due to wet rocks and boulders but the falls were beautiful. The Grundy Day loop was as beautiful as ever and we saw the bridge that was washed out on the Fiery Gizzard trail. Hikers from Murfreesboro were Jay Brain, Joe Campbell, Nancy McCormick, Sara Pollard, Wayne Yancey. Others were Michael Glennon (HR), Marietta Poteet (HR), Karl and Kathie Dupre (Nashville) and Nancy Stewart from Nolensville.
