Russ Manning of Knoxville joined me on the hike to the Walls of Jericho. He has always wanted to do this hike and wanted to hike with someone who had been there before. I had other folks to sign up, but circumstances came up and it was the two of us. We left a car at the Alabama trailhead and started the hike on the Tennessee side. The descent is more gradual going in on the Tennessee side but I think it's a prettier trail. The two bridges crossing the creeks have been replaced with new ones. We saw lots of wildflowers and I was disappointed the Virginia bluebells had already bloomed. We had lunch at the "walls" and Russ climbed the rock face to get to the additional waterfall. There's a sign when you get to the Clark Cemetery - 0.5 miles to the Walls of Jericho but it always seems longer to me. It's a narrow and rocky trail along the creek to the walls. Russ is the author of two books I have 40 Hikes in Tennessee's South Cumberland and 100 Trails of the Big South Fork. I enjoyed hiking with him and he was able to identify all the wildflowers. Hikers: Russ Manning and Sara Pollard
