This trip was supposed to be a camping trip with the Highland Rim and Nashville chapters, but folks changed plans because of weather conditions. Some stayed in cabins at Pickett State Park and the Jordan Motel in Jamestown. Thursday morning started out with a heavy frost, but we started the Rock Creek Loop hike around 9:00 am. It was chilly and the wind made it seem even colder. We had lunch at a backcountry campsite along the creek and Wendy started a small fire for us to enjoy. A light snow started while we were eating but didn't last long. Some hikers left Friday morning but four of us hiked the Twin Arches Loop. We enjoyed lunch at a picnic table behind Charit Creek Lodge. Both days were nice for hiking and we had beautiful views. Hikers were Jim Barritt, Doug Burroughs, Wendy Fish, Joan Hartvigsen, Sara Pollard, Dianna Richter, and Kathy Woods.
The spot for Murfreesboro TTA members & friends to come for weekly news updates.

Pickett State Park Camping and Hiking in the Big South Fork - Sara
We had 10 hikers to camp and hike in the Big South Fork area. This was a joint event with the Highland Rim chapter and Marietta Poteet planned the hikes and made the camping reservations. We stopped at Northup Falls near Allardt on our way in to hike the loop around and behind this beautiful waterfall. Then on to Pickett State Park to set up camp. We enjoyed a potluck dinner Thursday evening in the cabin shared by Sharon Dowdy, Debbie Owens and Glenda Stephens. Since it was St. Patrick's Day we had green decorations and wore beaded necklaces.
Friday, we hiked the Rock Creek Loop. The sign at the trailhead indicated 9 miles, but according to AllTrails the loop is 8 miles. The trail is beautiful along the creek. It started raining at one point but didn't last long. We met again Friday evening to eat the leftovers from the potluck.
Saturday morning, we broke up camp and hiked the Twin Arches loop on our way home. The weather was nice with a full moon and mild temperatures during the day. Hikers were Joe Campbell, Sharon Dowdy, Wendy Fish, Nancy Juodenas, Marsha Medford, Debbie Owens, Sara Pollard, Marietta Poteet, Glenda Stephens and Amy Sutton.
