The weather looked menacing Saturday morning, but by the time we got to the trailhead the sun popped out and it was a nice day for a hike. A volunteer at the Grinder's Stand site gave us a brief history of the area and we enjoyed looking at the exhibits before we began our hike. We passed the Meriwether Lewis monument and gravesite and continued our hike down to a creek and passed the campsite. Then we headed down the parkway to the Devil's Backbone and saw lots of beautiful flowers and interesting looking fungi. We had a couple of shallow creek crossings and both trails were not muddy after the rain. The hikers were Jean Breuer, Sara Pollard and Jane Reyling.
The spot for Murfreesboro TTA members & friends to come for weekly news updates.

Meriwether Lewis/Little Swan @ Natchez Trace (Part II) - Tony

A couple of weeks ago I hiked this with my dog as a preview of the hike that I was scheduled to lead on 3-31 for the Tennessee Trails.
We had 9 people all total on the five mile loop trail and had no rain. Everyone made the moderate hike just fine and we were greeted with beautiful wild flowers, pink and white dogwoods and some very green leafed trees for March.
