We had 6 hikers on the 6.0-mile hike at the Window Cliffs State Natural Area near Cookeville. It's an out and back to the "windows" with 9 creeks to cross so 18 altogether. Two of the creeks were dry but on a hot day it felt good to wade through the water. After the last crossing we turned left and hiked down parallel of the creek to get a better and closer view of the falls. Then we continued on to the end and enjoyed a break and our lunch. On the way back we encountered a small rattlesnake and a black snake in the water at one of the creek crossings. It was humid but still are great day for a hike. Hikers were Jim Barritt, Chris Hoffman, Lora McBride, Sara Pollard, Marietta Poteet and Georganne Ross.
The spot for Murfreesboro TTA members & friends to come for weekly news updates.

Burgess Falls / Window Cliffs - Michael
Burgess Falls Trail and Window Cliffs hikes today. Total of 7.3 miles with the Tennessee Trails Crew. Little warm but had 18 creek crossings. Two crossing were dry and had a good breeze most of the day. First time for me to hike up to the window cliffs. Great treat to see the natural cliffs and had excellent trail company. Even Ranger Randy joined us to tell us about nature on the hike. Learned a bunch today about TN trails and about the two hike trails today.

Window Cliff SNA - Sara
There were four of us who hiked the 5.5 mile trail at the Window Cliff State Natural Area near Cookeville. It took us 4 hours to hike this short trail due to the 18 creek crossings. It actually felt good to get our feet wet and helped us to stay cool on the hike. We had lunch on top of the cliff with beautiful views and stopped by to see a beautiful waterfall as well. Hikers were Sara Pollard, Jan Safavi, Marietta Poteet (Highland Rim chapter) and Woody Pillow (Nashville chapter).
