Jay, Chris and Luke started behind the Wilderness Station and Marta drove Jan, Sara and Anna Lina in the gator to start at the river access. We cut back limbs and cleared growth over the trail. Coming back Anna Lina rode in the truck with Marta and the rest of us piled in the gator with Jay driving. Along the way we saw Cinderella and her photographer. Trail crew were Luke Bosse (new to Murfreesboro), Jay Brain, Anna Lina Buckley, Chris Manzione, Sara Pollard, and Jan Safavi.
Mission: TTA brings people together through hiking—to enjoy nature, promote well-being, support trails, and build lasting friendships.

Barfield Park Trail Maintenance - Sara
There were 4 volunteers and 1 park staff member who came to help with trail maintenance at Barfield Park for National Public Lands Day. Our group got separated and Sara K. and Christine cut privet back and put weed killer on the stumps. The rest cut back limbs and weeds over the trail along the river up to the campground. Volunteers were Jay Brain, Rachela Forbes, Sara Kennedy, Sara Pollard, Jan Safavi and park staff member Christine.

Barfield Park Trail Maintenance - Sara
We volunteered at Barfield Park for National Trails Day doing trail maintenance. We removed invasive privet out of a section of woods in front of a bird blind. Daniel Lees of the Parks and Rec Department met us at the Wilderness Station and was our "trail boss" . Thanks to all who came out Joe Campbell, Jeanne Conatser, Bill Lamb, Sara Pollard and Jan Safavi.

Barfield Park Work Day - Sara
Valerie Galan coordinated the volunteer work day at Barfield Park. Barfield Park has been letting us use the Wilderness Station at no cost for our monthly meetings in exchange for trail maintenance around the park. Valerie, Jay Brain and Sara Pollard met Amy with the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department to paint signs and benches around the campground. Amy supplied all the paint supplies (also cold water!) and even drove us out to the campground in the Barfield Park Kubota. It was a cool morning and we appreciated Amy's guidance.

Barfield Park Maintenance - Sara
Jay Brain and I were the only two members committed to trail maintenance at Barfield Park Saturday. We decided to carry hand clippers and hike the trails since Jay has never hiked at Barfield. We started behind the Wilderness Station and then took the Rocky Path Loop. It was very overgrown but more than Jay and I could handle. It was very hot and humid so we decided to skip the Valley View loop and continued on Marshall Knob. We clipped back some limbs hanging over the trail and removed some fallen tree limbs across the trail. The trail along the river was very muddy and we saw a few wildflowers along the way.

National Trails Day- Barfield Park - Sara
There were 7 hardy souls who came out today to work on the 1 mile Rocky Path Trail at Barfield Crescent Park. We split up into two groups and met in the middle to complete the maintenance work. We cut back limbs over the trail, pulled weeds and met some hikers who appreciated us being there. It was hot and we were really glad to get finished at 11:00 am.
I took a “before” picture of the group before we started, but didn’t take an “after” picture. We were hot, sweaty and ready to get home for showers. I took a picture of a pretty columbine flower along the trail.
Thanks to all who came out today: Terry Dickerson (new chapter member), Katy Ginanni, Mary Belle Ginanni, Rene Jacobs, Sara Pollard, Jan Safavi, and Jennifer Zahn.

Barfield Park Maintenance - Sara
There were four of us who worked up a sweat doing trail maintenance from the river overlook to the gravel road crossing on the red blazed trail. The trail was in pretty good shape except for the tall white flowers along the trail. We had to cut them back from over the trail. The flowers along the gravel road to the backcountry campsite were beautiful. Thanks to Rene Barr, Bruce Harvey and Jan Safavi for coming out to help.
