Cloudland Canyon State Park - Sara

There were 9 hikers who traveled to Cloudland Canyon State Park near Trenton Georgia. We met at the visitor center and hiked to two waterfalls. We hiked ½ mile from the main trail to Crockett Falls and then on to Hemlock Falls further down the canyon. The steep hike down to Hemlock Falls involves 600 steps one way. Then we hiked the West Rim Loop Trail which is a 5-mile lollipop style hike involving several overlooks. This trail can be accessed from the cottages, Yurt Village and the West Rim Campground. 

The fall colors were spectacular and the temperature in the low 60’s made for a perfect hike. Hikers on this joint outing with the Highland Rim chapter were Jim Barritt, Chuck Deen, Patty Deen, Joan Hartvigsen, Lora McBride, Sara Pollard, Marietta Poteet, Bryan Tauchen, and Jack Walters.

Cloudland Canyon State Park - Anna

May 19 th West Rim Trail, Cloudland Canyon State Park, Rising Fawn, GA Fount and Anna had four ladies from the Memphis Chapter of TTA and Valerie Galan from the Murfreesboro Chapter on this one. It was past the blooming of the Mountain Laurel and the Rhododendron but this hike has outstanding overlooks any time of year. We did the larger of the two waterfall trails also, but it was quite warm so we did not do the 2nd one. Unfortunately our pictures got erased before they were downloaded but I am attaching one taken a couple of years ago of a waterfall there. Fount and Anna also enjoyed camping for the weekend and a visit to Larry's Buffet in Trenton for dinner.
