Murfreesboro and Highland Rim Christmas Party

We combined our annual Christmas party with the Highland Rim chapter this year to try something different. We met at the Ada Wright Center in the Fred Deadman Park in Manchester. It was a potluck and with a cookie exchange. Door prizes were awarded to the best decorated tables, and we sang some Christmas songs. We enjoyed spending time with members of the Highland Rim chapter and their guests. Folks attending from Murfreesboro were Jay Brain, Anna Lina Buckley, Joe Campbell, Craig McBride, Lora McBride, Sara Pollard, Georganne Ross, Martina Terrazas and her son Eduardo.

2023 Christmas Party

We had 23 folks to come out for our annual Christmas party this year. Lynn and Tim Rosser hosted the event at their beautiful home off Joe B. Jackson Highway in Murfreesboro. Jeanne Conatser picked up sliced smoked turkey from Slick Pig and it was delicious. Everyone brought side items to share. The Rossers have two fire pits, one on the patio and in the backyard. We enjoyed the warm fires on a chilly evening. Tim is an aerospace instructor at MTSU and showed us the airplane he's building in his garage.

Christmas Party

Our annual chapter Christmas party involved two things we enjoy as hikers - being outside and sitting around a roaring fire. Jay Brain hosted the party at his lovely home in Murfreesboro. Jay grilled hamburgers and Joe Campbell provided barbecued ribs as well. Jay had two fires going - one on his patio and another in his backyard surrounding by interesting rocks and beautiful landscaping. We had appetizers, lots of side items and delicious desserts. We all had a great time!

Murfreesboro Chapter Christmas Party

We had 14 chapter members and 7 guests at our annual Christmas party. Tables were decorated with magnolia leaves and candles. It was all about the food and fellowship though. Some highlights on food were Fount’s famous deviled eggs, Hazel’s homemade peanut brittle, and Jay’s swamp stew. All the food was outstanding and it was great sharing the holiday season with our members and guests. A special guest was John Ruth of the Sumner Trails chapter who drove in from Gallatin.

2017 TTA Christmas Party

We had 25 members to attend the annual chapter Christmas party at the Barfield Park Wilderness Station. Mary Belle Ginanni brought holly from her yard to decorate the tables which were covered in green and red tablecloths. Fount Bertram brought his famous and delicious deviled eggs. We always enjoy Hazel Smith's homemade peanut brittle and Tony's banana pudding. All the food was delicious. Our special guests were Joan and Tom Hartvigsen from Winchester. Joan Hartvigsen is our Middle Tennessee At-Large Director and we appreciate her support of our chapter.

Christmas Party 2016

We had about 30 members and their guests at our annual Christmas party at Barfield Crescent Park. It was great seeing everyone. A few of us exchanged “Silly Santa” gifts that was fun. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The members surprised chapter chair Sara Pollard with a Christmas gift to show their appreciation and signed a poster that Anna and Fount provided. The poster had a picture of Santa Claus walking through snow carrying a backpack with a small Christmas tree in it and using a walking stick.  Anna wrote beneath the picture: Santa…the original backpacker (ho ho ho!).

2015 Annual Christmas Party - Sara

Our annual TTA Christmas party was a lot of fun. Great food and the Dirty Santa present exchange was fun too. Steve Pollard ended up with the special Christmas tie, Edie McFarlin a  fleece throw, Pete Jacobs got a "spork", Wayne Yancey a "selfie stick" which maybe he'll figure out to use, Sara Pollard got a cool water bottle, can't remember who got the headlamp, Valerie Galan some funny Christmas headbands.  Bruce Harvey liked his candy and Margaret Harvey the gift card.  Sorry, but I can't remember who else got what.  Not everyone participated in "Dirty Santa", but it was still enjoyable to see the creativity of the gifts.

2014 Christmas Party

We had a good turnout for our annual Christmas potluck at the Wilderness Station.  Mary Belle brought fresh holly from her yard and other decorations for the tables.  Fount brought his famous deviled eggs and cooked a delicious ham.  We enjoyed superb casseroles and desserts.

TTA Christmas Party

Nabil took a couple of pictures from our Holiday Party Tuesday evening.  We had a couple of visitors – Brent Morris and Joan Hartvigsen from the Highland Rim chapter.  It was a small group but the food was great and plenty of it!

We had a great time at the annual Christmas Party.  The food was great and plentiful!   We didn’t play “Dirty Santa” this year, but instead had a drawing for door prizes.
