2016 CTC Spring BreakAway Program March 6 – April 2
Help, they’re comin, they’re comin! Students are arriving for the Spring BreakAway Program---- March 6th -70; March 13th -50; March 20th -24; lastly March 26th – 21 students. CTC is looking for a few good men and women volunteers! OK, maybe more than a few and maybe not so good. Currently we have 6 volunteers confirmed for week 1 only, with needs for many more throughout March. Lodging and food at Fort Bluff Camp in Dayton is provided by CTC, all we need is YOU! . Hello Cumberland Trail supporters,
January 12-20, 2013, the Cumberland Trail Conference will be hosting a group of students from the University of Kansas. During this period, the students will be helping to construct a section of the Cumberland Trail on Black Mountain. More specifically, the section of trail from Windlass Cave to Hwy 68 in Cumberland County, near Crossville, TN. This event is also open to non-student volunteers if you are interested in helping. In addition, the CTC will be constructing this section of trail throughout the month of January and February as weather permits. If interested in volunteering contact the CTC office at 931-456-6259 or by email to marleyapendleton@frontiernet.net or cumberlandtrail@rocketmail.com please put trail volunteering on subject line. Cumberland Trail Help Needed - Tony
Hello,
June 9-17, the CTC will be building a bridge across Cave Branch and doing other trail maintenance in the Cumberland Trail’s New River segment. I am emailing to see if anyone can volunteer to help. We will be camping in the area but if you can come for a day or several days that would be great. If you can make it just reply to this email. Also, the CTC has the events below scheduled for the fall of this year. September 20-23, 2012: The Southeastern Foot Trails Coalition is holding their Biannual conference this year at Fall Creek Falls in Pikeville, TN , visit www.southeastfoottrails.com for further details
September 29-October 3, 2012: volunteers needed to help with trail maintenance in the Cumberland Trail’s Tennessee River Gorge segment in Hamilton County, TN. The work would include the removal of fallen trees, cutting back vegetation, and updating trail markers. Volunteers can help for 1 day or multiple days. This work would be in preparation for the Rock Creek’s 50k Stump Jump trail race, please visit www.rockcreek.com/stumpjump.rco for more information about the race. This would include the removal of fallen trees, cutting back vegetation, and updating trail markers. This is in preparation for the Knoxville Track Club’s Cumberland Trail 50k trail race. October 19-21, 2012: backpack on the Cumberland Trail’s New River segment, this strenuous 40-mile hike will be from the Cross Mountain trailhead (top of Cross Mountain) south, to the visitor center at Frozen Head State Park. This hike is for experienced backpackers only, limited to 10 hikers, and will involve a shuttle. Participates are at the hike leader’s discretion. November 3, 2012: first bi-annual Cumberland Trail Conference membership meeting, the CTC’s Cumberland Trail Day will be held at the Dogwood Lodge in Soddy Daisy, TN. Open to all members of the CTC and invited guest, this will be a day of hikes, a potluck dinner, and an awards ceremony. There are accommodations for those waiting to stay overnight.
