Bowling Farm Fall Color Hike and Potluck- Tony

We had our yearly Fall color hike with the Tennessee Trails Association at the beautiful tree farm in Monterey, Tennessee. The Bowling Family Tree Farm has been our home away from home for nearly ten years now with two hikes per year. Spring wildflower and Fall color. This year we had an added treat, SNOW!  There was two inches but most had melted by the time we got there but what remained made for gorgeous scenery and beautiful pictures.
Thanks so much to Billie Jo Bowling and her son and daughter in-law, Tim and Margaret for welcoming us to their farm twice per year. It is always a pleasure to hike there and be with great company.
We had a smaller crowd this year because we had to move the hike to Sunday due to my work conflicts and appreciate those willing to make the change to avoid having to cancel out.  Along with myself and the Bowlings, we had Fount and Anna Bertram, Steve and Sara Pollard, Nabil Wakid and Mary Belle Ginanni along with a fantastic potluck meal.
We look forward to our TENTH ANNIVERSARY HIKE with the Bowlings this upcoming Spring 2015. Date to be announced later.

Bowling Farm Spring Wildflower Walk and Potluck - Tony

This was the annual spring wildflower walk and potluck social at the Monterey, TN farm of Winston and Billie Jo Bowling. There were 19 of us including our "next generation" hike leader, Thomas Bowling, the grandson of Winston & Billie Jo.
The weather was crisp but nice and we avoided the rain. This was the 10th Anniversary hike at the Bowling's Tree Farm.

Bowling Farm Hike - Tony

The Murfreesboro Chapter of the Tennessee Trails Association had our annual Spring Wildflower hike and social at the Monterey Tree Farm home of Winston and Billie Jo Bowling.
The hike was about four miles and we saw a few wildflowers. Our weather here in Tennessee has been strange and who knows whether we missed them or they haven't popped out yet. The Bowling's son, Tim led us on the hike and we had about 10 people. Everyone brought a pot luck dish and we had a wonderful feast afterwards.
Pictures here are just a sampling of what is in my full gallery (link above) and this November we will enjoy our annual FALL Color walk.
Thanks so much to the Bowling's who are so gracious to allow a group of hungry hikers into their home twice per year.

Bowling Farm Hike - Tony

The Murfreesboro chapter of the Tennessee Trails Association visited the Monterey, TN country home of chapter members Winston and Billie Jo Bowling, who graciously open their home and vast trails to us twice per year. This year the color was fantastic (although we worried on the way that we may be too late).
The Bowling's son Tim joined us and led the hike for us through about four miles of some of the best color I have seen this year. We had 19 hikers including The Three Bowling's and had our ritualistic after hike potluck feast which was hearty and filling as usual.

Bowling Farm Hike- Tony

This was our yearly spring wildflower walk & social at the Monterey farm of Winston & Billie Jo Bowling. Because they came out so early this year there were not many wildflowers but as always, the hike and social were wonderful.

In addition to Mr & Mrs Winston Bowling, we enjoyed the company of his son from Jacksonville; John, his wife Kim and their two sons Sawyer and Clark as well as The Bowling’s Murfreesboro son Tim, his wife Margaret and two of their three children Amy and Morgan.

The rest of the bunch were members of the Murfreesboro Chapter of the Tennessee Trails Association: Tony Jones, Cathy Bingham, MaryBelle Ginanni, Jim Schroeder, Bruce Harvey, Nabil Wakid, Martin McCullough, Fount & Anna Bertram, Lindsey & Hazel Smith and Pat Cronkhite and his guest.
