Short Springs State Natural Area - Sara

We had 14 hikers on our trip to Short Springs State Natural Area in Tullahoma. Twelve hikers met at the Cracker Barrel on Church Street to carpool and 2 hikers – Cynthia Skidmore of Jasper and  Cynthia Meinerding of Winchester met us at the trailhead. The area has new trail signs and the TVA built bridge over Bobo Creek is nice. We saw some beautiful wildflowers as well.

Hikers were Jay Brain, Joe Campbell, Donovan Carpenter, Katy Ginanni, Mary Belle Ginanni, Katie Griffin, Tony Jones, David McGovern, Cynthia Meinerding, Joni Perrine, Sara Pollard, Jan Safavi, Cynthia Skidmore, and Alisha Yockey.

I was happy to hear that a bridge has been build across Bobo Creek. Back in the day, I was involved with exploring the potential of doing just that. As I recall at the time there was a downed tree across the creek near the upper reaches of the natural Area, which led to the conclusion a pole bridge might be possible. There were also visions of building a foot trails along the western bank of the creek. Anyway, best regards to all.

I was gld to hear that a beidge was built ver Bobo Creek.Way back when I was involved in exploring for that possibility and building a foot trail on the west side of the creek. As I recall there was a downed tree acrss the creek near the upper reaches if the Natural Area that suggested a pole bridge might be possible in the area. I sure would be interested in seeing pics of the bridge and pinpointing its location. Best regards to all, Jim Schroeder
