There is legislation being proposed which would allow the use of portions of the hiking trails in Fall Creek Falls State Park and in the Savage Gulf State Natural Area for horseback riding. The House Parks & Tourism Subcommittee will meet this Wednesday, March 25, at 12:30 pm in the Legislative Plaza, Room 16. The subcommittee may hear a presentation from Susan Whitaker, Commissioner of the Department of Tourism. The members of the subcommittee are: Chair Gilmore (D), Vice Chair Floyd (R), Fraley (D), Hawk (R), Kernell (D), Rowland (R).
The bill in question is: *HB 1308 Harmon: Horseback riding in Fall Creek Falls State Park.* Requires the commissioner to promulgate rules and regulations to authorize the use of certain segments of trail for horseback riding by the general public in Fall Creek Falls State Park and Savage Gulf State Natural Area. Please express your opinion on this matter to your elected representatives. The subcommittee meetings are open to the public if you would like to attend.
