Murfreesboro participated in a work weekend at BreakAway March 6, 7, and 8. Four Murfreesboro members spent a great weekend working at BreakAway. We arrived Friday evening in time to catch the last of the square dancing. There were four colleges participating in Week 2 and this evening of music and dancing was the end of their work week.Saturday morning the college kids piled into vans and began their trek home. Tony Hook had set up a trail building day for us at the Audubon Mountain trail which will eventually connect to the CT. We met up with a group of students from the Sale Creek High ROTC. We got a few hundred feet of trail built which was great since none of these kids had ever built trail and a few had never been hiking before. We had the unusual but welcome luxury of being delivered pizza on the trail (gotta love that ROTC ingenuity!!!) See attached photo of Tony H., Tony J. and Carol digging in! We had a great evening of chips, dip and drinks on the patio since the kids had all left for home and there was only our group and the CTC workers left.
Sunday we helped set up cots for the incoming students, we cleaned, sharpened and painted over a hundred tools, mopped floors, wiped down tables and generally did whatever was needed to get the camp set up for 5 colleges bringing in almost a hundred students for Week 3.
