Three Murfreesboro members enjoyed the mild temperatures of the Clingman's Dome area on a four day 35 mile backpack from July 25 to 28. We had daytime temps in the low 70's and night time temps down to 60. The hills and creek crossings were killers but there were beautiful wildflowers in bloom and great views to enjoy. Tony & Ann saw a bear! I saw a bunch of brush moving around and a patch of black fur!!! Well one step closer to my first bear sighting...and it was exciting nonetheless. To make up for my disappointment we rounded a curve about 5 minutes later and came upon the biggest Timber Rattlesnake you've ever seen...woo hoo!!!
