The Poteet's, Jim and Marietta hosted several chapters of the Tennessee Trails to their Sewanee home for Chili and socialization following a great hike to South Cumberland State Park where we hiked the Fiery Gizzard Trail to Sycamore Falls and back. It was cold, and a little snowy but it was perfect for hiking.
We had about 41 people on the hike and those people plus about 10 others joined us at the house. This hike is appropriately called the "Chilly Chili" hike. The falls were roaring, but there was little ice as there has been in the past. We past Blue Hole Falls, Black Canyon, the Chimney Rocks and the Sycamore before turning around and heading back.
South Cumberland and its many many hiking trails is one of the reasons that Middle Tennessee has a reputation for beauty and one of the best places to hike in the Southern United States.
This is a quick and easy 3 mile walk that is just full of stunning visuals of nature at it's best!
