Thanks to Anna Bertram for this report. I will update this posting with photos if I get them.
Hike Report - New Year's Day Hike and Feast, Edgar Evins State Park
Seventeen brave souls hiked in muddy conditions but only had light sprinkles for a little while before it cleared up for most of the Millennium Trail. Afterwards we enjoyed a roaring fire as we socialized and feasted in the covered shelter house. We had several small stream crossings due to the earlier rains, even where there usually aren't any creeks. For this reason it was decided not to hike the Highland Rim Nature Trail after the meal because it has a steep descent down to a real creek and then a steep ascent. This could have been hazardous due to the slippery mud and the swollen stream. Everyone was smiling and there were no complaints throughout the day. It was another Happy New Year's Day outing. We all need to thank Bobby Hardeman of the Columbia/Franklin Chapter for coordinating it, and Sara Pollard from the Murfreesboro Chapter for making a car pool possible.
