We had a whopping 22 hikers for the TTA David Crockett State Park hike on March 24, 2012! This was a joint hike with Columbia/Franklin and the Murfreesboro Chapter. Highland Rim was also represented. With possible wild weather in the forecast we were really lucky to have the rain come about 5 minutes before the hike was over! It was mostly very nice weather and lots of camaraderie during the 5 mile loop in the park. Everyone also survived the 80 steps up and some steep steps/terrain down to the creek. We were able to see some panoramic views near the beginning, some beautiful pastoral views later on, a beautiful lake, small waterfalls and a rushing creek. We even passed right in front of the restaurant at about the halfway mark-but only saw it-didn’t enter at the time! There were many beautiful wildflowers, especially along the creek. Finally, we had a great buffet lunch at the park restaurant. Service was speedy and there was no waiting. Some TTA’ers went to the small, but very nice museum after our lunch. In all a very nice experience!
