Eight hikers from Highland Rim and Murfreesboro set out in the heat for a 9 mile trek on the CT to view Mushroom Rock, Edward's Point, several nice river views and other interesting sights. It was a hot day but the trees provided plenty of shade and we even had an occasional breeze cool us down. For me the highlight of the trip was a beautiful Copperhead snake that Tammy spotted hanging out in the root system of a large tree right on the trail. We had stopped to have a drink and there it was! As usual the Poteet's led a wonderful hike and we all enjoyed dinner at Papa Ron's in Monteagle afterward.
