Cumberland Trail Updates


Oct. 10-Ultra-Marathon Volunteers needed! The Cumberland Trail in the area of Cove Lake State Park (20 miles north of Knoxville) will be having its first 50K Ultra-Marathon. The race is on Saturday, October 10 and starts at 6:00 a.m. Also, this event is a fundraiser for the Cumberland Trail Conference. Volunteers are needed to man the aid stations and to help out with set up and tear down of the event. Diane Manas is volunteering and can give you info if you are interested in volunteering. dmanashikes@comcast.net The plan is to drive up Friday and return Sunday.

Oct. 12-Benefit for the Cumberland Trail in Knoxville!
October 12- The North Face Never Stop Exploring Speaker Series Brings Ski Mountaineer Kit DesLauriers to Knoxville, TN. The North Face and Blue Ridge Mountain Sports present Lessons from the Summit: Skiing the 7 Summits. The presentation will begin at 7:00 PM and will be preceded by a VIP

reception that will benefit the Cumberland Trail Conference. VIP Reception tickets, which include preferred seating, a meet & greet with Kit, beer, wine and light food, are available for $20.00. Oct. 15-25 Bridge Building Project needs volunteers!
October 15-25, log bridge replacement, Rock Creek segment: The purpose of this project is to replace deteriorated log bridges at Boiling Springs, Flat Branch, and Rocky Branch in the Rock Creek segment of the CT. Volunteers are needed to help move material and construct bridges made of natural material and treated lumber. Food and lodging will be provided for out-of-town volunteers at the Lutheran Camp near Soddy Daisy, Tennessee.
