A handful of us went to the Smokies for Easter. The weather was perfect, the wildflowers were just starting to show up and there was still a bit of snow at the upper elevations. We did Gabes Mtn. to Maddron Bald to Snake Den trail along with a few short side trips with a total of about 20 miles. We also sampled several edible plants...by the time we were done all we needed was some Italian dressing and we could have left our rations at home! We had brook lettuce, trout lily, and ramps...unfortunately the Red Bud was not yet in bloom.
