Short Springs State Natural Area - Tony

Today I led a nice group of fellow Tennessee Trails Association Hikers to Short Springs State Natural Area near Tullahoma, Tennessee.

The weather was fantastic, the colors were in bloom and Machine Falls was spectacular.  Because I wanted to spend time at both Machine Falls and nearby Rutledge Falls we only hiked the Machine Falls Loop and skipped the Adams Falls loop and the Busby Falls loop on this go round.

Part Two of our fantastic Tennessee Trails Association Hike was to Rutledge Falls. The falls sits on private land not far from the Short Springs Natural Area. The owners of the property are gracious enough to allow visitors down to the base of the falls. A small trail takes you from the top to the bottom of the falls where swimming is a must in the summer.
